Guidelines for Residential Service

  1. PLACE YOUR WASTE AT THE CURB THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR COLLECTION DAY!

  2. Even if you are using a can or cart, place your waste in bags so that it may be removed easily.

  3. Garbage containers should be placed within five (5) feet of the roadway. Containers should be watertight, metal or plastic, with tight fitting covers and handles. Each container should not exceed thirty (30) gallons; each plastic bag should not exceed thirty (30) pounds. DO NOT USE PAPER BAGS, CARDBOARD BOXES, OR 55-GALLON DRUMS AS GARBAGE RECEPTACLES.

  4. HELP OUR DRIVERS SERVE YOU BETTER: In order for our drivers to provide you with prompt reliable service, it is important that they be able to locate and identify your address. If you are one of our residential customers who live in a rural area, please provide us with accurate and detailed directions to your residence. Your house number, private road sign and container should be clearly identified and easy for the driver to see.

In the wintertime, please remove the snow from around the area where you place your waste container. It is important to make the container visible to the driver; white bags on white snow are hard to see. Please have a reasonably clear approach route to the containers both for the vehicle and also for the driver. Also, remember to place your waste in bags because liquids can freeze in your container making it hard to empty.

  5. NEEDLES AND SHARP OBJECTS: Help us prevent needle sticks to our employees. Place all needles, syringes and lancets, in a hard plastic container with a tight fitting lid taped shut. Place with your regular trash, NOT the recycling. Wrap all sharp objects, such as broken glass or sharp metal in heavy paper and tape. Please protect our refuse workers! The homeowner will be held responsible for injuries to workers caused by loose needles.

  6. Due to state regulations, we CANNOT accept excrement, flammable liquids (solvent, paint thinners, oil, containers holding liquid paints, gas or kerosene), auto batteries or parts or any material that may be considered hazardous, infectious or toxic.
